I have a hold on a newly published book. Why hasn't the library received copies of it yet?

Answer

When the library orders copies of newly released books, the book may arrive a week or more after its release date, but they are checked in and processed right away so that you can enjoy them as soon as possible.

Often, items need to be fitted with a dust jacket, processed for library use, assigned a barcode and other library stamps/stickers, and then will be available at library branches.
