Kindles do not have upgradeable memory.  The amount that it came with originally is what you are limited to.  However, Amazon does store all of the content that you have purchased from Amazon in the cloud, unlimitedly.  You can delete it off of a Kindle, and redownload it whenever you like.  For instructions on how to download books that are stored only in the cloud, see Amazon's instructions for downloading books from the cloud.
