Why is playback so fast on my device after transferring my eBook?

The first thing to do is check to make sure the iPod is set to playback at the correct speed. This setting depends on the version of the iPod you are using. Depending on the version of iPod you own, you will see an icon under the time-elapsed/time-remaining display. If the icon is 2X, it is playing at double speed. Tap the icon to change the playback speed.
Other iPods have the options for faster, normal, or slower playback. Go to settings -> audiobook menu.
