I love the library! How can I get involved?
Answer
Volunteer – branches sometimes need volunteers to help with tasks or special projects. You can look for volunteer opportunities at https://www.oneabqvolunteers.com/ or speak to staff at the library where you would like to volunteer about their needs.
Donate Materials – If you would like to donate books or other materials to the library, you can view the donation policy to see what we accept. Your donations go to the Friends of the Public Library. Most branches can take a small number of items as donations. For larger donations, please contact your branch to confirm they can accept it or take it to the Friends at the Main library.
Friends of the Public Library – the Friends of the Library offer monthly book sales and run the bookshop in the lower level of Main library. Some branches also have a “Fiction to Go” area where items can be purchased. Any funds from purchases or donations are used to support library programs. You can also become a member of the Friends of the Public Library or volunteer with them.
Albuquerque Public Library Foundation – this organization raises money to support programs, services and facilities. They are happy to accept unrestricted or restricted gifts, bequests and major financial gifts. They work closely with the library’s administration to identify ways to support the libraries and their staff.
Visit Support ABQ-BERNCO Libraries website, which is maintained by our Advisory Board, and join the e-mail list. Occasionally we email library supporters when we need them to reach out to their elected officials to ask them to support library funding requests. You can also apply to join the advisory board when there are vacancies.
