What does it mean to freeze my hold? How can I freeze my holds?

Answer

Freezing a requested item allows you to keep your place in line, and move up in the hold queue as other holds ahead of you are fulfilled, but when you are next to receive the our system will skip you and move to the next person in the queue.

Note: You cannot freeze a hold on an item whose status is "LOOK ON SHELF" or holds that are in transit for or awaiting pickup by you.

Freeze your holds by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your library account with your card number and PIN
  2. Navigate to the Holds tab, then expand the Digital Holds or Library Holds section.
  3. Select the hold you want to suspend.
  4. Click Suspend Hold(s).
  5. Provide the dates on which you want to begin and end your hold suspension.
  6. Click Suspend.

Note: If no end date is provided, the hold will remain suspended until the suspension is manually removed.

Reactivate your holds by following these same steps to un-check the boxes.
