Overdrive tells me that I need to upgrade my security on my Windows 8 computer. How do I do this?

Answer

When you attempt to upgrade the Windows Media Player security, you may be running into a website compatibility error or have an old version of Windows Media Player. Try these steps:

  1. Go to this address: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp using Internet Explorer.
You must use Internet Explorer for this upgrade.

  2. Click the Upgrade button and follow the prompts to finish.

For Windows 8 users

If the Upgrade button is grayed out after completing the steps above, please try this:

  1. Press F12 on your keyboard (or click the Gear icon in the top-right corner, and select F12 developer tools).

  2. From the Developer Tools windows, select Browser Mode: IE10 Compat View, then Internet Explorer 10 Compatibility View from the drop-down.

  3. Try upgrading from http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp again.

If it still doesn't work:

Check to see if you have the most current version of Windows Media Player. You can download Windows Media Player (WMP) 11 from Microsoft. After installing it, try upgrading your security again.
