How can I delete library books from my Kindle for PC that have already been deleted elsewhere?

In order to completely delete content from your Kindle or Kindle app, you must log in to Amazon through a web browser, then go to Manage your content and devices. Each item will have an Actions button to the right of it; one of the options is to Delete from Library. After you have deleted the item from your Kindle library, it should be removed once your Kindle for PC app syncs. You can also try opening the Kindle for PC app, finding the book in question, and right clicking on the title. Choose Remove from Device from the menu that pops up.

If the item still persists in the Kindle for PC app, you can manually delete the book from your computer by finding the folder that contains your Kindle books. It should be named My Kindle Contents or similar, and may be located in your documents folder. The Kindle app will tell you where the files are stored if you look in the Preferences menu under Content Folder.

If that doesn't work, there may be some hidden files that aren't getting deleted completely. Amazon may be able to tell you where to look for these.

  1. I've tried this, but the titles remain in my Kindle for PC library. The don't show up on my Amazon account any more, but they remain on my PC.

  2. You can manually delete the book from your computer by finding the folder that contains your Kindle books. It should be named "My Kindle Contents" or similar, and may be located in your documents folder.

If you have done all this and the books still appear in your PC app, even though they have been deleted on the cloud and you can't access them through the app, go to the help link at the bottom of the menu on your PC app, below the settings link. There you will find something called "Full library refresh." Click that and your PC app will accurately reflect your cloud collection.

  4. agree. they are deleted elsewhere but still showing up for kindle online. to be clear it is not a kindle for pc app, it is onlien at read.amazon.com

  5. The only way worked for me is that you deregister from Kindle PC and then register again. The kindle library will actually sync with Amazon content management page.
