eBooks on a Kindle
I have a library card, can I have access to Library owned ebooks. I have a kindle and would like get books on line that fit that platform.
Answer
The library offers eBooks through OverDrive or Libby, the OverDrive app, and Hoopla. Both of these databases are available to use for library card holders, and they will ask you to sign in with your library card number and pin. Depending on what kind of Kindle you have, you may be able to use both of these databases to access eBooks.
For OverDrive/Libby, you have a few options. Option 1 is to download the Libby app, and you can find instructions for how to do so here. This option will only work if you have a Kindle Fire. Option 2 is to search for and check out books from the OverDrive website and have them sent to your Kindle. This option will work for the Kindle paperwhite, Kindle Fire, and a few other older Kindle devices. You can find video and written instructions for how to do so here.
For Hoopla, if you have a Kindle Fire you can simply download the Hoopla app from the Amazon store. From there, you can browse, borrow, and read all in the Hoopla app. If you have a Kindle paperwhite or an older version of Kindle, Hoopla will not work on your device.
